In 1991 this tornado dropped South of Osceola and stayed on the ground for 3-4 miles. The town was lucky as it picked up on the very edge of Osceola. The Merv Ransom Sr. farmstead was destroyed by the tornado. Four department members on storm watch was very fortunate because they didn't see the twister until it was about a half mile from them (heavy rains ahead of the storm did not produce a dust cloud) As the firefighter headed away from the approaching twister they was greeted by two twin twisters to the east. It was a night the firefighters will never forget.
